Experience

Two years in the defence industry, now in security operations

Since September 2024 I have worked at Airbus Defence and Space on a work-study apprenticeship, first as a systems, networks and telecoms technician, now as an apprentice SecOps engineer.

    Security operations within a defence-industry environment, continuing the collaboration started in 2024.

  2. Apprentice systems, networks and telecoms technician

    2 years Labège, France

    • Developed internal tools for the teams.
    • Improved supervision and monitoring processes.
    • Deployed and configured equipment on customer sites, including five missions in Germany.

    2025 missions

    Five deployments in Germany

    Five separate one-week missions to deploy equipment on customer sites, each time on my own, working with German teams in a fully English-speaking environment.

Safety briefings for visitors, supervision of the courses and help for customers, including rescue interventions at height, where people’s safety depends on fast, precise execution.

Projects

Projects, from embedded devices to multi-site networks

Seven projects in security, networks, telecoms and systems. Each one has a case study with its architecture.

    • IoT & embedded

    Secure IoT telemetry

    MQTT telemetry hardened in three stages, from clear text to mutual TLS with each device’s key in an ATECC608B secure element. I also led the three-person team.

    • Networks

    Secure multi-site architecture

    Two sites joined through a central operator core, each behind a Fortinet firewall and an Arista vEOS switch, with VRF isolation, OSPF between VRFs and an IPsec tunnel.

    • Telecommunications

    5G Standalone network

    A full 5G Standalone architecture (gNodeB, 5G core, dedicated optical fibre) with throughput and latency measurements, real-time IoT geolocation and mobile video surveillance.

    • Cybersecurity

    System and network hardening

    Complete port security on Cisco switches, stateful filtering with iptables, protected administrative access and hardened services, with active monitoring for network anomalies.

    • Cybersecurity

    Vulnerability assessment and exploitation

    An authorised lab exercise on Kali Linux: Nmap reconnaissance, identification of a vulnerable Samba service, then exploitation of usermap_script with Metasploit on a lab target.

    • Networks

    Multi-site network design and security

    A complete multi-site network with OSPF, BGP and MPLS, IPsec tunnels between remote sites, a zone-based firewall and ACLs, voice QoS and IPv6 within an IPv4 backbone.

    • Telecommunications

    Regenerative repeater for satellite links

    A simplified GNU Radio simulation of a regenerative repeater used in satellite links: re-amplification, low-pass filtering and reconstruction of a clean signal with a threshold comparator.

From the top of my BUT class to engineering school

  1. Expected

    The diplôme d’ingénieur is a Master’s-level engineering degree. Sciences du Numérique (digital sciences) department, networks and computer science orientation.

    Studied under a work-study apprenticeship with Airbus Defence and Space.

    IUT de Blagnac

    The BUT (Bachelor Universitaire de Technologie) is a three-year technology bachelor’s degree, taught at an IUT (institut universitaire de technologie, a university institute of technology). Networks, telecoms, cybersecurity and systems, with Internet of Things content and team projects called SAÉ (situations d’apprentissage et d’évaluation, project-based assessments).

About

Curiosity, rigour and useful tools

I discovered computing around 2010, thanks to my grandfather. It started a lasting passion, and since childhood I have needed to understand how things really work.

I learn primarily by building: personal labs, simulated architectures and hardware projects. A large part of my IT skill set is self-taught, from online resources and hands-on experimentation.

I chose an apprenticeship in the defence industry to apply what I learn where security is critical. What I enjoy most is creating tools that make daily work simpler for the teams around me.

I am fascinated by technological progress, and I know where I want it to take me.

How I work

  • High standards

    Ranked 1st of 50 in my BUT class while working as an apprentice from the second year onwards.

  • Self-taught

    Much of what I know comes from my own labs and online resources. I adapt quickly and keep broadening my skill set.

  • Coordination

    In group work I often take the coordinator or reference role: structuring the stages, making decisions, meeting deadlines and keeping the team together.

  • Team spirit

    I volunteer for new projects and help classmates and colleagues when they are stuck.

  • Curiosity

    I ask questions to understand the context and stakes of each mission, and I anticipate the skills that will matter next.

  • Discretion

    Rigorous, discreet and security-minded, as the defence sector requires.

Long-term goal

To lead a team combining cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, bringing together technical expertise, strategic vision and people leadership to protect tomorrow’s systems.
